"Romania is recovering, but it is still under the level of its neighboring markets. Same like the other countries, Romania has to apply reforms, specially regarding fiscal austerity.

The economic recovery of the developed countries is not in V shape, as it is recommended, but in U shape.

Comparing to last year, the threats - as collapsing the euro zone – threats are less stronger but they are not all gone 100%.

I don’t think that Romania will enter in Eurozone in 2015 because you are not ready and it is better to wait a year or two to be prepared. Romania should assure a healthy economic and financial status. If it is not like this, we could entry in Eurozone and get into trouble, as Greece did. It is true that if Romania gets into Eurozone it will have benefits. Any measure taken for adopting euro is welcome.

More than half of the consumer market is represented by energy and food and the effect of growing of the international prices to domestic inflation is more significant than in other countries.

In Eastern Europe, the economic growth will continue, even it will be a modest growth until structural reforms are made and the fiscal conditions are improved and the world economy will not become much stronger.

Greece, Portugal and Ireland have fragile bank systems. When you talk with the Greeks, they admit the need of doing reforms, but the debts limit the capacity of recovery. The Greeks are ready for an eventual restructure, but it seems that ECB and EU are not.

The question about Greece is not if but when it will not be able to pay. A debt of 160% it is not default, but incapacity of pay and such a deficit can’t be stabilised. Greece should have implemented 100% the IMF demands and still couldn’t reduce the debt.

The 110 billion euro give by EU and IMF for saving Greece were not enough and there will be needed other 2-300 billions of euro. For Romania and Hungary, the reform was painful but it began to show results.

They talk a lot about financial Armaggedon. In Ireland, the government couldn’t support all the debt. Portugal hasn’t even started the austerity plan. In the case of Spain they say it is too big to fail and too big to be saved. There will not come someone from outside to save IMF.

"Romania became the place where you can invest in economy. We managed to stabilize the macroeconomic level and to get out from recession and start on the way of economic growth.

At the end of April 2011, there were 1.252.000 state employees and the number of working contracts, after 2nd of May, when the new Working Law came operational, reached 250.000.

One of the keys for speeding the investments in Romania is the private-public partnership.

It is true that we came later in this club of public-private partnership and I hope that the EU will have the same opening towards Romania as it did with other states when it was discussed the public-private partnership."

"Romania has to define the profile of its macroeconomic politics. Capital movements – in and outs – can disturb the macroeconomic policy strategy mixture. After the beginning of the crisis there were a lot of talk about the changing of the growth model, starting from the fact that the overheating of the Romanian economy in 2007-2008 was caused by the overspending in the private sector and state sector. All data show that the increase of salaries in the state sector were not sustainable.

Many said that the model has to be changed. There were suggestions that it could be based more on export or investments. Both formula are correct. But they forget one thing: the two model can’t be predetermined.

In a open market economy, the capacity to interfere directlly on the model of economic growth is almost zero. We must be very careful when we talk about models of economic growth. The manner in which they are talking in Romania can lead to mistaken conclusions. In fact, the private sector decides on the manner in which an economic area develops.

The export can become and they did the main engine of economic growth, but only because the investors and producers wanted so."
